VOLVO has released a limited run of locally-commissioned, high-performance S60 sedans with tweaks from performance partner Polestar.
With more power and torque from its turbocharged six, bigger alloy wheels and new quad exhausts poking out from the more aggressive rear diffuser, the car is nothing if not a head-turner.
Throw in the seemingly appetising starting price of $82,990 and you have a tantalising prospect.
While its limited numbers – just 50 will be made and all are coming to Australia – mean it is unlikely you will see any collecting dust in showrooms, this is an important car because it has the potential to be the first in a long line of tuned and toned Polestar-tuned Volvo models.
It would make sense, since the Scandinavian safety icon has made moves to sex up its somewhat conservative image in recent times.
The question is: Has the S60 Polestar done a good job of getting the ball rolling?
