Iveco reveals ‘Vision’ of the future

IVECO has taken the wraps off its imaginatively designed Vision concept, giving a glimpse into the delivery vans of the future.

The uniquely styled van is complimented by “seethrough” front pillars and a rear camera, which is displayed on a wideangle screen sitting on top of the windshield, giving drivers an unparalleled view of their surroundings.

The Vision concept also features a “Dual Energy” system, Iveco's take on an electrichybrid drivetrain that includes two different driving options, an exclusively all electric mode for urban areas and a hybrid mode for longer distance driving.

According to Iveco this new hybrid system will reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 25 per cent.

Interestingly, this concept van has a new automatic load management system that can detect the size and shape of goods being loaded.

The system will then highlight the best positions to place them within the vehicle and lock them in place with “containment devices.”In comparison, Iveco's current delivery van offering, known as the Daily, does not include such technological wizardry.

Revealed in June 2014, the redesigned Daily will be powered by a choice of 2.3 or 3.0litre engines and power output will range from 78kW and top out at 151kW.

The new Daily is expected to hit Australian shores early next year.
