THE A4 uses a maintenance-free, power-assisted rack and pinion steering system. The steering ratio is 16.3:1 on all models and the turning circle is 11.1m. Turns lock to lock measures 2.9. Audi claims the widespread adoption of aluminium components has allowed it to produce a precise steering feel and strong dynamics. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with multi-function controls, found standard on 3.0-litre models, is available as an option. The steering wheel adjusts manually for both reach and height.
