ONE of Audi’s Sydney show stars was the new Audi A4 S Line, a new variant designed to create a bridge between A4 and S4.
Featuring a 140kW version of the familiar 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo engine (plus 20kW), the S Line’s engine is mated to quattro and a six-speed manual gearbox, an exclusive bodykit and 17-inch wheels.
It costs $69,500 for the sedan and $73,100 for the Avant (wagon) and goes on sale in November, with about 20 examples expected to be sold per month.
The uprated engine produces a flatter torque curve, with a peak of 240Nm available between 1950 and 4700rpm. The A4 S Line sedan travels from 0-100km/h in 8.3 seconds, with the Avant sprinting to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds.
Visually, the A4 S Line features 235/45-section tyres with sports 17-inch alloys and sports suspension, plus sports bumpers front and rear, a rear spoiler and S Line decals.
