Paris show: Audi's TT Roadster gets a hardtop

AUDI is using the Paris motor show to unveil a removable hardtop for the TT roadster.

The hardtop is painted the same colour as the body and blends seamlessly with the roadster's silhouette.

There is no official word on local pricing or availability, but Audi Australia spokeswoman Ms Anna Burgdorf says the hardtop will be offered here if there is sufficient demand.

It is trimmed inside in high quality cloth lining and also features a cloth-covered shelf above the tonneau cover.

An aluminium space frame construction provides the supporting structure and the outer skin is made of resilient plastic.

Audi says the hardtop maximises stability while minimising wind noise.

The hardtop also features a heated glass rear window that provides unobscured rearward visibility in all weather conditions.

The existing $92,900 TT roadster comes with a canvas roof as a standard.

It derives its power from 1.8-litre, turbocharged engine that generates 165kW, relayed to all four wheels by Audi's quattro system.
