THE TT demonstrates the wondrous things that can be done with car shapes given the advent of computer-aided, cutting edge design technologies. Said to be inspired by the minimalist Bauhaus school, the TT skilfully balances curves and blunt, aggressive shapes to create a design with stunning visual impact. A hint of retro pervades the TT, including some influences from early rear-engined Auto Union racecars, but the car does not really emulate anything. The tiny, curved roof has such small window openings it is difficult to poke your head out. Still, it all works well, if a little short on rear vision and having relatively ordinary aerodynamics with a Cd of 0.34. Audi says the figure is pretty good for a sports car although the convertible Porsche Boxster manages 0.31.
