AUDI has a long history with the inline five-cylinder engine stretching all the way back to 1976 where it was first applied in the Audi 100.

Throughout the years though, the five-pot engine configuration has graced some of Audi’s most iconic models, including the Quattro and RS2 Avant – the first of the German brand’s models to wear the famed RennSport badge.

Audi brought back its five cylinder in 2009 with the introduction of the first TT RS, built on the model’s second-generation platform, with the 2.5-litre engine carrying over to also power its previous-generation RS3 Sportback in 2011.

The latest in a long line of five-pot powered Audis is now here in the form of the new-generation TT RS, but can the latest two-door high-performer carry on the tradition of fantastic odd-cylinder-numbered Audis?
