BMW 620d GT pricing confirmed

BMW Australia has confirmed its new entry-level 620d Gran Turismo, powered by a 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo diesel, will cost $99,900 before on-roads when it lands in local showrooms in October.

As the cheapest 6 Series Gran Turismo on offer, the 620d undercuts the 190kW/400Nm 630i by $23,600 and the flagship all-paw 250kW/450Nm 640i xDrive by $48,629, as well as its $115,355 Mercedes-Benz CLS250d rival.

Teamed to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to the rear wheels, the 620d can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds, while European fuel consumption figures peg the latest BMW at 5.4 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions at 142 grams per kilometre.

To bring pricing below $100,000, the 620d features air suspension only on the rear instead of all round like its siblings, while also losing features such as wireless smartphone charging, M Sport brakes and an active rear spoiler.

However, the base 6 Series GT sports a head-up display, leather upholstery, electric front seat adjustment, two-zone climate control, automatic tailgate, adaptive LED headlights, high-beam assist, 19-inch alloy wheels and panoramic glass sunroof.

BMW’s iDrive6 10.25-inch high-definition infotainment touchscreen is also fitted, with features including satellite navigation with real-time traffic information, digital radio, intelligent emergency calling, Bluetooth connectivity and a 12-speaker sound system.

Safety equipment extends to BMW’s Driving Assistant Plus package that includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, front and rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, Evasion Aid, Rear Collision Prevention and crossroad warning.

Buyers can also opt for an M Sport Package, which adds Adaptive 2-Axle Air Suspension, front sports seats, 19-inch wheels, Anthracite roofliner, M leather steering wheel, M Aerodynamics Package and high-gloss Shadow Line exterior highlights.

Other options include an Exclusive Package for $6500, an Innovations Package for $1600 and a Comfort Package from $2700.

In the first six months of the year, BMW has sold 64 6 Series GTs. The model went on sale in the fourth quarter of last year.
