AFTER almost two years on the Australian market, BMW has introduced the first change to its quirky battery-powered i3 hatchback in the form of a denser 94 ampere hour (Ah) translating to a significant boost in range.

While the i3 has never been BMW’s best seller – or, arguably, its best looker – it is the German brand’s entry-level zero-emissions vehicles which also adds the use of recycled parts and a sustainable production in Leipzig into the green mix.

Is the i3 relegated to the environmental conscious shopper, or has the significant battery boost made it a viable option for the customer looking for a premium city run about with reduced running costs?
