FOUR-CHANNEL ABS, four-wheel disc brakes, ventilated at the front, look after taming the hard-charging, 2.2-tonne bulk of the X5. The braking system on the X5 owes something to Land Rover with the adoption of hill descent control (HDC), which automatically maintains a speed between five and ten km/h when descending a steep slope, via the ABS. The system can be switched off via a button on the dash.
