THERE is no doubt Chrysler's styling team has been showing the rest how it is done in the past few years, with cars such as the Viper and Prowler, as well as a range of sensual large cars unfortunately not sold here. The PT Cruiser is yet another master stroke from the Chrysler studio with an engaging take on what US stylists were doing in the immediate post-war years. In reality, it is nothing like the 1940s behemoths that were its inspiration and its flowing, balanced shapes show how far styling - and manufacturing technology - has progressed. The Cruiser is not only amazing to look at - whether you like it or not - but is also practical, with useful amounts of passenger and luggage space and very good on-road abilities.
