Citroen C5 now more than $3000 cheaper

LAST week Citroen announced a $6000-plus price cut for the C4 Picasso people-mover, and now it has heralded price reductions of more than $3000 for its mid-size C5 sedan and wagon range.

Previously priced from $49,990 plus on-road costs, the entry-level C5 2.0 HDi Comfort sedan auto now costs $46,990 drive-away, while the base C5 2.0 HDi Comfort Tourer auto (previously $52,990 plus on-roads) is also now at least $3000 more affordable at $49,990 drive-away.

The C5 price cuts follow the Australian introduction of Citroen’s latest 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre HDi turbo-diesel engines in the French brand’s mid-size sedan and wagon range earlier this year, when entry-level Comfort versions also gained sportier new leather and fabric interior trim.

Citroen’s general manager in Australia, Miles Williams, said that in a market sector cluttered with similar cars claiming to offer luxury, performance and technology, the Citroen C5 was unmistakably unique.

“This effortless blend of comfort, style and economy is now available from a new, lower price which means a saving of more than $3000, once extra savings of stamp duty and registration have also been factored in to the costs,” he said.

“The Citroen C5 is latest in a long line of full-size Citroen’s that have built an enviable reputation for style, technology and an unrivalled level of comfort.

“With the new pricing for the entry-level variants, the Citroen C5 further enhances another part of the Citroen reputation that applies to all its models – value for money.”
