ALL C5s use hydraulically-assisted, rack-and-pinion steering. The differences are that the V6 version uses a road-speed sensitive system to assist stability at highway speeds, and the four-cylinder versions use an engine-speed sensitive system. In the four-cylinder versions, maximum assistance is provided at speeds between 600 and 1000rpm, while V6s reduce assistance according to how fast the vehicle is travelling.
