Geneva show: Citroen gets Electro Shot

BY TIM NICHOLSON | 27th Feb 2013

CITROEN will use the Geneva motor show to reveal a new limited edition Electro Shot version of its DS4 premium hatch.

The Electro Shot is based on the DStyle trim of the DS4 and features a two-tone finish that is reminiscent of the iconic DS models from the French car-maker’s past.

Styling flourishes that set the Electro Shot apart from the standard DS4 DStyle include chrome finish on the door mirrors, a gloss black roof and spoiler and black 17-inch alloy wheels.

The DS4 Electro Shot has been produced at Citroen’s customisation workshop at the PSA Peugeot Citroen Mulhouse site.

Citroen said in a statement that the workshop is “run by body specialists to satisfy the expectations of DS customers looking for a unique, high-quality product with a high level of customised content.”The Electro Shot is just one of a number of new models and concepts that Citroen will have on show at Geneva next week.

As GoAuto has reported, the Technospace compact people mover concept that points to the next generation C4 Picasso will be revealed publicly.

The facelifted C3 light hatch range that will launch in Europe mid-year will also get its first showing at Geneva and the new DS3 Cabrio that goes on sale in Australia later this year will also be on the stand.

Citroen will show off PSA’s green technology in a prototype of the C3 Hybrid Air that combines a petrol engine with compressed air and hydraulic power to save fuel and reduce emissions.

After several years under the stewardship of Ateco, Citroen’s Australian operation was recently taken over by private importers Sime Darby.

The new management is keen to grow the Citroen brand in Australia through an expanded product range and dealer network.

Earlier this month, Sime Darby announced a restructure of Citroen’s pricing and model line-up in Australia including new entry-level variants for the C3 and C4 as well as price cuts and reshuffles across the range.

It has also been confirmed that the C4 Aircross compact SUV that went on sale in Australia in July last year will get an official local launch in late March.
