MITSUBISHI Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has announced an expansion of its Triton 4x4 dual-cab pick-up range, with the inclusion of two new variants – the mid-spec GLX-R and high-grade GSR, the latter of which comes with a trio of option packs.
The GLX-R comes with a recommended retail price (RRP) of $41,990 for the six-speed manual or $44,490 for the automatic, placing it between the GLX+ and GLS grades.
MMAL is also offering driveaway pricing for private buyers of the GLX-R, which comes in cheaper than the RRP of $39,990 and $42,490 for the manual and auto, respectively.
The GLX-R adds a number of visual upgrades over the GLX+ including 18-inch alloy wheels, large foglights, chrome door mirrors, front bumper garnish and door handles, and a silver front grille.
Meanwhile, the new GSR grade is offered in a single, auto-only grade, and priced with a RRP of $51,890 (placing it between the GLS and GLS Premium) as well as a driveaway cost of $50,990 for private buyers.
The GSR also adds a number of black styling touches, including 18-inch alloys, dynamic shield design, grille, headlamp garnish, skid plate, door mirrors, door handles and side steps.
Inside, it also gains a surround-view monitor with a steering-wheel-mounted switch, leather-trimmed seats, steering wheel, handbrake and gear shift knob, power driver’s seat adjustment and heated front seats.
An interior with tan orange highlights on the seats, console box and knee pads is available as an option.
Three styling packs are available as options on the GSR, starting with the soft tonneau pack which costs $2699 including fitment.
The soft tonneau pack includes a soft tonneau cover, black sports bar, under-rail tub liner, tailgate assist, cargo tie-down and a floor mat set.
MMAL is also offering the hard tonneau and rolltop tonneau packs, which take the spec of the soft pack and replaces the tonneau covers as each name would suggest, while also including a tailgate locking function.
The hard tonneau pack asks buyers for $4699, while the rolltop tonneau pack is $300 dearer at $4999.
All versions use the familiar 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine found in other Triton models, good for 133kW/430Nm while driving all four wheels.
The Triton enjoyed a successful 2019, with its 25,819 sales enough for fifth place in the overall sales race and a year-on-year improvement of 3.7 per cent.
In the first month of 2020 Mitsubishi sold 2075 examples of the Triton, an improvement over the 1697 managed over the same period in 2019.
