First look: Sirion faces change

BABY car specialist Daihatsu has facelifted its Sirion five-door and dropped the price of the 1.0L entry level version.

The Sirion GTvi baby hot hatch shares the face changes but its pricing remains unchanged.

The Sirion 1.0L's changes include a new headlight and grille treatment, split bumpers, fluted intakes in the front air dam and reworked bonnet and fenders.

Inside, the upgrades include a redesign of the dash panel and instrument cluster, and the addition of new storage compartments.

The GTvi adds a wide lower intake with driving lights and new alloy wheels, while inside the redesign includes a metallic silver finish, upgraded seat and floor coverings and height-adjustable rear headrests.

The 1.0L five-speed manual will now cost $12,990, down from $13,590, while the auto is $14,090, down from $14,690. The GTvi remains $16,990 for the manual and $18,790 for the four-speed "steershift" auto.

As the name suggests, the 1.0L continues to be powered by a 989cc, three-cylinder engine producing 40kW, while the GTvi's 1.3-litre, variable valve timing four-cylinder knocks out 75kW.

Standard 1.0L features include front power windows, power steering and power mirrors, split-folding rear seats, rear window wiper and washer and dual airbags and front seatbelt pretensioners with height adjustment.

The GTvi adds a full bodykit, chrome side mouldings, alloy wheels, rear spoiler and driving lights.
