DAIHATSU'S designers have made a brave attempt to depart from the conventional box-like appearance that most tall, practical and versatile vehicles have tended to take on. Without compromising on interior dimensions or cleverness, the YRV has introduced some interesting ideas with its striking appearance. This is most evident at the side profile - dubbed the double wedge - that splits the "belt line" at the point between the front and rear doors and leaves the rear side window openings low to emphasise interior space. Convention has it that the rear window is smaller than the front as the belt line rises toward the rear pillar. But this is an unconventional car.
