YRV is powered by the familiar Daihatsu (codenamed K3-VE) 1.3-litre, twin cam, 16-valve, inline four-cylinder engine featuring variable valve timing that maximises power while at the same time returning low fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. A close relative of the 1.3 powering the Toyota Echo, the engine produces 64kW of power at 6000rpm and 120Nm of torque at 3200rpm. Government (AS2877) fuel consumption data indicates the car, in manual transmission form, will consume 6.8L/100km on the theoretical city cycle and 5.6L/100km on the highway.
