FORD has taken the opportunity of renaming its sales-shy Kuga mid-size SUV to Escape, providing the model with a fresh start to coincide with what is essentially a mid-life facelift.

Now with a closer family resemblance to its Everest seven-seat sibling, the Escape is packed with standard equipment even in the base Ambiente spec as tested here.

We wanted for little from behind the wheel, especially when the pedals provided access to arguably the segment’s most enjoyable entry-level engine.
