THE Ford F-Series has long been a vehicle of choice for those requiring a little more load carrying capacity or more space in the cabin. Unfortunately for Australians, in the past 10 years, owning one has meant buying a private import and accepting an aftermarket left to right-hand drive conversion. In July, 2001, that changed when the new, factory built (Brazil), right-hand drive F250 and F350 were launched by Ford Australia. Sadly, Ford has no plans to import F150 vehicles. The F250 and F350 series falls in the 3501-7500kg GVM bracket and competes against the Mitsubishi Canter, Toyota Dyna and Mazda T-Series, among others. A choice of three cabin sizes, three engines and two trim levels makes the F-Series a vehicle well worth considering if heavy work is the order of the day.
