FORD Australia wants to maintain the Falcon Ute’s reputation as the right tool for tougher jobs. While it boasts passenger car comfort, the new FG Ute maintains its carrying capacity with a payload limit of 1240kg and a hefty towing limit of 2300kg thanks to a leaf-spring rear-end. But Ford has also made the Falcon Ute a more refined machine, with a raft of upgrades carried over from the sedan that give the vehicle a more refined feel, as well as delivering a sportier driving experience. The Ute also gains the upgraded naturally-aspirated inline six, plus the potent new Turbo six and brawny Boss V8. There is also an E-Gas LPG option and the new Falcon Ute is also available as a cab-chassis or with the styleside-box steel tub. Side airbags are available as an option, with traction control available on all cars and standard on XRs. But supply delays mean electronic stability control is not available on any FG Ute, at least until later in the year.
