A NON-ADAPTIVE, four-speed, electronically controlled automatic transmission is standard on Forte, though a five-speed manual can be specified for no additional cost. The AU Falcon brought improvements to the auto gearbox's shift points and feel to optimise fuel economy and performance, and to reduce noise.

The normal service life of the auto is at least 250,000km. Meanwhile, the manual transmission was overhauled to reduce noise, shift lever and other vibrations. The manual shifter was also moved closer to the driver.
