DON’T kid yourself. If it wore a different badge and didn’t look quite so much like a Falcon, you would probably be driving a G6E Turbo already on the strength of the rave reviews that it has received. And you would be proud as well as pleased with what is probably the greatest family car Australia has ever produced. But, instead, like most people in this class of car, the vanity associated with driving a German branded rival – albeit one with just four cylinders and a fraction of the big Ford’s features and performance – outweighs the pleasure provided by the top-of-the-line FG Falcon series. It is a shame, and probably ultimately a tragedy for the Australian automotive industry.
