COMPLIMENTING the new multi-link IRS, refined front suspension and quicker steering rack, 16-inch wheels are standard on Falcon, complete with Dunlop SP Sport 200E rubber measuring 215/60 R16.

The bigger steel rims - hidden beneath reasonably convincing seven-spoke plastic wheel covers - combine with a wider rear wheel track to better fill Falcon's rear wheel arches than the Executive's 15-inch items. And, despite the larger wheels, Falcon has now surpassed Commodore in terms of ride comfort.

Valve caps are plastic and a full-size spare wheel is strapped under a masonite board under the boot floor lining, with a cantilever jack stowed inside the right rear quarter.

Futura and Fairmont models get alloy wheels of the same size (with a steel spare), with 17-inch alloys reserved for XR and Fairmont Ghia.
