EVERY decade has its hot-hatch legends etched in our memories – from the 1976 Golf GTI and 205 GTi of the ‘80s through to rows of Renault Sport RS gems from the 1990s onwards.

Ford came close with a couple of Focus models and the smaller XR4 of 2007 in more recent times, but today nothing hits the mark quite precisely as the new Fiesta ST.

Whether history remembers it as fondly remains to be seen, but right now, for sheer pleasure, the Blue Oval baby won’t soon be forgotten.
