A Ford-built, LPG-equipped Mondeo that can also run on E85 ethanol has been revealed at the Leipzig motor show.
Ford Germany said the vehicle would be made available in selected European countries late this month, but Ford Australia told GoAuto that it has no plans to introduce the vehicle locally.
The tri-fuel Mondeo has a 48-litre LPG tank that sits in the spare wheel well and retains its standard 70 litre petrol tank.
Ford says the additional tank gives the special Mondeo a cruising range of 1200km.
It runs a modified 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that generates 108kW when running on standard unleaded fuel or E85 ethanol. When using LPG, this drops by 3kW to 105kW.
The tri-fuel Mondeo will be available as a sedan, hatch or wagon.
