THE Mustang convertible is even less roomy in the back than the already cosy hard-top version with shoulder width reduced by the folding roof mechanism, so it's best only for short distances with four-up. Up front, the front engine, rear-drive layout means a greedy intrusion of the transmission tunnel, resulting in a tight fit for the driver's left leg that even the extensive Tickford re-engineering job hasn't been able to remedy.
