FORD Australia has introduced a limited-run Black Edition option to its popular Ranger utility line-up.
Based upon the Ranger XL bi-turbo four-wheel drive pick-up, the Ranger Black Edition offers what Ford Australia describes as “added visual impact for owners that mix work and play”.
Priced from $56,680 plus on-road costs – or $57,990 drive-away when fitted with (solid) Artic White paint – just 1500 examples of the Ranger Black Edition will be offered and are available to order now.
Highlights of the Ranger Black Edition variant include a black long-legged sports bar and drop-in bedliner with 12-volt power outlet and in-built cargo management system.
Further visual differentiators include unique 17-inch Asphalt Black alloy wheels, all-terrain tyres, black side steps, and an Asphalt Black mesh grille with Boulder Grey inserts.
Optionally, the MY24.5 Ford Ranger Black Edition is available with a towing pack ($1900), manual roller shutter ($3000), prestige paint ($700) and idle-stop deletion (NCO).
Ford Australia says production of the limited-edition variant has already commenced with first customer arrivals expected in Q3, 2024.
The Ford Ranger continues as Australia’s best-selling light commercial vehicle with May sales of 5912 units – up 43.8 per cent on the same time last year.
Last month (May), the Ranger outsold segment rivals including the popular Toyota HiLux (5702) and Isuzu D-Max (2612) to take top spot on the Australian new car sales ladder.
This year to date, Ford Australia has sold 27,242 exmaples of the Thai-built Ranger giving it a substantial share of the light commercial utility segment (by way of contrast, Toyota sold 22,885 units over the same period).
Ranger sales account for 67.8 per cent of all Ford models sold in Australia, with Everest sales (9009) contributing a further 22.5 per cent.
The remaining share (9.7 per cent) is comprised of Escape (278 unit sales YTD, and now defunct), F-150 (828), Mustang (7), Mustang Mach-E (253), Puma (722), Transit Bus (21), Transit Custom (1173), and Transit (596) sales.
