Foton throws in Tunland tow bar

FOTON Motors Australia is aiming to entice fresh buyers to its dual-cab Tunland ute, with the Chinese brand offering a free tow bar including installation for vehicles purchased and delivered in July.

Priced at $27,990 driveaway for the 4x2 dual cab and $30,990 for the 4x4, the Tunland undercuts popular rivals such as the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton and Nissan Navara, but sits above other budget options like the Great Wall V200, JMC Vigus, Mahindra Genio and Tata Xenon.

The tow bar offers 2.5-tonne braked towing capacity, and can be fitted at any one of the 39 Foton Tunland dealers across Australia.

Foton Motors Australia general manager Alex Stewart said that the addition of the free tow bar made the Tunland an even better value option for people looking for a dependable workhorse vehicle.

“A tow bar is one of the most popular accessories fitted to our Tunland utes so offering this for free for a limited time enhances the appeal and interest in our products, particularly for tradies and buyers looking for a tough and economical tow vehicle,” he said.

“There's no better value workhorse ute package on the market at the moment and buyers are starting to recognise Tunland and the potential it offers.”All variants of the Tunland are powered by a 2.8-litre Cummins turbo-diesel four-cylinder paired to a Getrag five-speed manual transmission.

The engine has a maximum power output of 120kW and 360Nm of torque, while sipping 8.3 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres.

The dual cab comes with rear parking sensors, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, alloy wheels, air conditioning, a CD/MP3/radio audio system with Bluetooth compatibility, and is backed by a 3 year/100,000km warranty.

The Tunland has made a modest sales impression since launching Down Under in May 2014, selling 1958 total vehicles in that time.

Its best performance came last year, when it managed 1065 total sales. So far this year it is on track to fall just short of that number, with 454 Tunlands finding homes to the end of June.
