Grabber ATX and AT3 join General Tire range

GENERAL TIRE has announced the introduction of its four-wheel drive specific Grabber range for the Australian market.

Offering Grabber ATX and Grabber AT3 tread patterns, the tyres are designed to offer Australia drivers what General Tire says is exceptional off-road capability and durability, balanced with impressive on-road performance.

In that way, the General Tire Grabber duo will take the fight to rivals including the BF Goodrich A/T KO3, Cooper Discoverer, Falken Wildpeak AT3, Goodyear Wrangler, and many more, giving Australian buyers another option in all-terrain rubber.

The Grabber ATX and AT3 utilises General Tire’s Comfort Balance Technology it says provides a quieter and more comfortable on-road experience, while the DuraGen Technology tread blocks design and material composition ensures excellent cut and chip resistance and additional grip across all loose surfaces.

What’s more, the reinforced tread block design is said to offer increase mileage in rugged conditions, making the tyre ideally suited for use off the beaten track.

The Continental-owned brand says the Grabber is designed to deliver “confident stability under all approved load guidelines thanks to ultra-high-strength steel belts” while also ensuring an “efficient self-cleaning action for added traction in mud”.

“The design of these tyres provides Aussie drivers with the confidence they need when tackling the vast array of unpredictable conditions our landscape presents,” said Continental Tyres and General Tire head of east region Asia Pacific Mitchell Golledge.

Both ATX and AT3 tread patterns have a range of sidewall features including large sidewall lugs on the upper sidewall protecting the tyre body from stones, rocks, and debris.

A series of stacked deflection ribs provide protection to the upper sidewall area by deflecting obstacles away from the tyre body, while the rim protection rib shields the tyre and wheel bead area from damage caused by curb stones and off-road obstacles.

As a guide, the ATX is best suited to an on/off-road usage ratio of 20:80 per cent and the AT3 50:50.

The AT3 option – as fitted as OEM equipment to Ford Ranger Wildtrak and Tremor, and Ford Everest Tremor – is available in nine common sizes range from 225/75R16 to 265/65R18 while the more aggressive ATX is offered in 13 sizes ranging from 235/85R16 to 275/65R20.

Pricing starts from $232 depending on tyre size and fitment costs. More information is available at the General Tire website.
