LUBE Mobile founders David, Paul and Mark Sayer have ended their association with the world’s largest mobile mechanic company after 38 years.
The Sayers sold the company to Bridgestone last year but remained active in the management team during a transition period that ended this week.
Outgoing CEO David Sayer said it was an emotional time.
“Lube Mobile is much bigger than any person, family or otherwise,” he said.
“It has become an integral part of the Australian aftermarket landscape and is the largest mobile service in the world. It has reached the point where the brand attains colloquial status in society.”
Since its inception in 1982, Lube Mobile has been built on the principle of providing cost-effective, hassle-free auto servicing to customers and has become one of the most recognisable automotive service businesses in Australia.
Following the transition period, a national executive team has been appointed by Lube Mobile, headed up by general manager Shane Cox and manager of operations, development and IT, Peter Bennie, with the latter being another founding member.
Bridgestone Australia and New Zealand managing director Stephen Roche said the Sayers had created an “incredible legacy” with Lube Mobile.
“Lube Mobile is more than the industry leader. It is synonymous with the concept of mobile mechanics thanks to the driving force of the Sayers, and we are proud to recognise their efforts in creating the icon the business is,” he said.
“Globally, Bridgestone is striving to become the leading mobility solutions provider, and the addition of Lube Mobile to our business in Australia supports this direction.”
“It also highlights the foresight the Sayers had in their management of Lube Mobile to meet the evolving needs of customers,” Mr Roche added.
Lube Mobile will now operate as an independent business unit of Bridgestone Australia, alongside its retail network of Bridgestone Select and national Bridgestone Service Centre locations.
