After 35 years and 14 generations, Holden’s VF Commodore has arrived to pinch back some of the sales it has lost in recent years to smaller, more economical cars, cheaper imports and family-friendly SUVs.
While the VF is not a completely new-generation car, the changes over the VE are substantial, with improvements in almost every area from performance and fuel economy to interior design, safety technology and even pricing.
The Commodore Evoke replaces both the Omega and the Berlina variants to become the new entry point for the range, while including features that would have previously been reserved for the mid-spec Berlina.
With a $5000 price cut over the base model VE, the Evoke represents excellent value, but can it stand out in a crowded market place and win back sales and fans?
