IN 2008, Holden wowed Australia by unveiling a station wagon that looked nothing like any Commodore-badged car before it.

Developed largely in response to the rising popularity of high-riding SUVs, the Sportwagon, as the new wagon came to be known, had to be something special.

It was: its fastback looks made for a compelling alternative to the other higher-riding wagons filling up school car parks in even greater numbers.

Holden is hoping the significantly updated VF Commodore builds on what the VE started – and it has, with a better cabin and improved dynamics making it perhaps the best set-up of any VF member.
