VE Commodore just two days away!

HOLDEN will retire its Executive moniker when the new VE Commodore goes on sale next month following its official unveilling this Sunday (July 16).

An internal document seen by GoAuto reveals that the base model will be known as the Omega, followed by the Berlina, Calais, Calais V, SV6, SS and SSV.

The Acclaim model has been dropped, which is unsurprising given the higher spec of the base car (which will include ESP stability control) and possible inclusion of curtain airbags as an option.

The "V" designation could stand for variable displacement in the new 6.0-litre V8. Although not confirmed, the Omega could be up to $2000 more expensive than the outgoing Executive automatic.

HSV model names carry over, including the ClubSport (but no R8), GTS and Senator Signature.
