UNLIKE the Ignis donor car, the Cruze gets an engine boost to 1.5-litres, although it remains a Suzuki engine from the same family. In 1490cc guise its power is boosted from 60kW to 74kW, and torque from 106Nm to 138Nm. But the fundamentals remain the same with a straightforwartd Japanese four-cylinder engine design with double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. Holden claims official fuel consumption on ULP for the manual at 6.8L/100km on the city cycle and 5.2L/100 on the highway. Auto figures are 7.2 and 5.4.
