AFTER nearly a decade of decidedly sub-par mid-sizers, Holden finally takes a step in the right direction with the Insignia VXR – a brooding mix of British design, German engineering, and Aussie V6 turbo muscle.

It ushers in a number of firsts for the Lion Brand, from performance all-wheel drive and driver-assist safety technology to a preview of what may become of HSV.

Like the Opel on which it is based on, the VXR is all about building a beleaguered brand.
