THE 1992 Jackaroo had a few perception problems to overcome, following the previous model's reputation for being only a marginal off-roader. But the L1 successor immediately gained the respect of the motoring press with outstanding (at the time) road behaviour and an ability to hold its own in the bush. The all-coil chassis had a lot to do with this. The Jackaroo was also more smartly styled with a more solid, contemporary appearance that has allowed it to continue basically unchanged for 10 years.
