WITH an all-new full-size Accord launched only this week, there was never much doubt that it would be the star attraction of Honda’s Melbourne motor show display.
The new eighth-generation Accord is bigger in every dimension and arrives with pricing from $29,990 for the 2.4-litre VTi, with standard electronic stability control, five-speed automatic transmission and dual-chamber side airbags. V6-engined models start from $38,490.
Technically, the highlight is a three-stage cylinder management system that shuts down part of the V6 engine in the interests of lower consumption and emissions when power is not required, as well as active front head restraints, variable-ratio steering, power-adjustable driver’s seat lumbar support and flat-blade wipers.
