Sharp pricing for Civic Hatch

HONDA today announced sharp pricing for its new five-door Civic Hatch, which will go on sale next month with a new entry-level model priced from $22,650 plus on-road costs – about $5000 less than expected.

The new base VTi-S variant with six-speed manual gearbox – which is also offered at $24,990 driveaway – carries less equipment than the previous single-spec Si model, which was some $7340 more expensive, but still comes with six airbags and a tyre deflation warning system.

A five-speed automatic transmission is a $2300 option, as before.

As reported in GoAuto earlier this month, the British-built five-door hatchback is to be offered in two model specifications, with the more lavishly equipped VTi-L coming with a reversing camera and standard auto transmission, at a price of $29,990 plus ORCs (the same as the superseded Si).

Both are powered by an improved version of Honda’s familiar 1.8-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC engine that produces 104kW of power at 6500rpm and 174Nm of torque at 4300rpm, and returns combined fuel consumption of 6.1L/100km with the manual and 6.5l/100km with the auto.

Honda Australia director of sales and marketing Stephen Collins said the Civic Hatch is one of the most stylish cars in its segment and prioritises safety and functionality with a five-star ANCAP safety rating and Honda’s clever “magic seat” system.

“The Civic Hatch is great value for money, with a sleek new European design, improved aerodynamics and greater fuel efficiency,” he said.
