Honda Australia recalls Civic Type R

BY MIKE COSTELLO | 14th Nov 2011

HONDA Australia has recalled 92 Civic Type R hot hatches built in 2009 and 2010 due to a potentially incorrectly routed wire harness.

According to a statement placed on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission website, the wire harness sheath may be damaged.

This could cause a short-circuit, resulting in the right-hand-side brake light, headlight or front fog light failing to function, while the horn could also fail to sound.

Honda Australia public relations assistant manager Melissa Cross told GoAuto that there have been no reports of light or horn failure in any Australian vehicles.

The recall affects vehicles within the VIN range SHHFN2360AU100161 to SHHFN2360AU100325.

Honda will send a letter to affected owners, who are advised to contact their local dealer to get the wire harness repaired or replaced.

The rectification work is expected to take around four and a half hours to complete.
