HONDA Australia is the latest mainstream car-maker to introduce capped-price servicing for some of its most popular models.
The maximum set price is available on eligible Honda models when driven under normal conditions and applies to servicing for either the first five years of the vehicle's life or the first 100,000 kilometres, whichever falls first.
Honda is offering the deal on all Civic hatch and sedans and CR-Z coupes built from 2012 onwards, as well as Jazz Hybrid, CR-V and Accord models produced from 2013 on.
The servicing is retrospective for those vehicles sold before and after the introduction of the system on October 1, 2013.
Capped-price servicing for a 2012 Civic sedan ranges between $240 for the six-month/10,000km service to $263 for the five-year/100,000km check-up, while a 2013 Civic hatch starts at $240 and tops out at $277 in the same timeframe.
Servicing a petrol-electric Jazz Hybrid is a touch more expensive, kicking off from $272 for a six month/10,000km service up to $306 for the five-year/100,000km service.
Honda's other eligible hybrid model, the 2012 and 2013 CR-Z coupe, ranges from $272 to $306, while all 2013 Accords will cost buyers between $246 and $269 to service, up to the five-year mark.
Finally, Honda's popular CR-V SUV will cost between $240 to $277 to service a 2013 base model version, but a top-spec model-year 2014 variant ranges from $246 to $283.
The Japanese car-maker's local arm is also introducing 'adaptive' servicing which ensures customers who travel low kilometres pay less than customers who use their car more frequently.
Adaptive servicing supplements Honda's prescribed maintenance schedule and includes items such as air filters, brake fluid or dust and pollen filters that must be attended to at the prescribed age of the vehicle or kilometres travelled as per the odometer.
Honda said in a statement that adaptive servicing means that “items are replaced or attended to exactly when it’s required, reducing the cost of ownership and waste”.
The all-new Odyssey people mover that is scheduled for a local release in the first quarter of next year will be the next model in its line-up to benefit from capped-price and adaptive servicing.
Honda Australia director Stephen Collins said the company was confident its capped-price service offer would be welcomed by potential buyers.
“We are pleased to offer Capped Price Servicing to our customers for the first time. We are committed to providing our customers with choice, value for money and the very best after-sales service in the market.” Honda Australia joins a number of other companies that already offer fixed servicing costs, including Toyota, Holden, Hyundai, Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen.
