Melbourne show: HSV gets back to basics

HOLDEN Special Vehicles (HSV) has released a more keenly priced limited-edition version of the Senator, with a trimmed spec sheet in sympathy with current market conditions.

The price of the new car – revealed at the Melbourne motor show – has been clipped from the $80,500 price tag on a Senator Signature to $69,990 for the new base-model Senator.

The Senator’s magnetic ride control shock absorbers have been deleted, replaced with HSV’s standard performance suspension.

The new model comes with billet silver wheels instead of the chrome shadow jobs on the Signature.

Performance seats also have been deleted, but they do get the Onyx leather upholstery as standard.

Among a range of minor changes are the deletion of automatic wipers, front parking sensors and some chrome highlights.

The automatic and manual versions cost the same. HSV will build 59 autos and 30 manual Senators with the specification.
