BASED on the Elantra, the LaVita continues with the familiar all-independent suspension arrangement comprising MacPherson struts up front and a multilink design at the rear. The front end differs from the sedan and liftback with the use of a large I-beam cross-member, while at the rear the suspension is mounted under the spare wheel well rather than tucked in front of it. This is due to the 10mm shorter wheelbase of the LaVita compared to the Elantra sedan and hatch. Ground clearance is 160mm.
