CONTINUING the small-car barrage at the Sydney show is a facelifted Getz from Hyundai, complete with new nose and bumpers, and a refreshed interior comprising new dash, seat trim materials and active front head restraints.
Bigger news, however, is a pair of more powerful engines, with a 16-valve twin-cam 70kW/120Nm 1.4-litre engine replacing the current single-cam 62kW/117Nm 1.3-litre entry-level engine, and a 78kW/144Nm 1.6 replacing the current 74kW/133Nm 1.5.
The new 1.6 returns lower fuel consumption than the 1.5 (down from 7.5 to 7.1L/100km in auto guise) and is again expected to be the top seller, while the 1.4 is slightly up on the 1.3 at 6.1L/100km (7.0 auto).
Getz pricing will continue to open at $13,490 for the three-door 1.4 manual, which will simply be badged Getz (instead of Getz GL), while the 1.4 auto will cost $15,380.
The "Getz 1.6", as it will be badged, gains ABS, EBD and rear disc brakes and will be priced at $14,490 as a three-door manual, with the auto costing $16,380.
Reducing the five-door premium from $1500 to $1000, the five-door 1.6 price will be $15,490 ($17,380 as an auto).
