THE latest Sonata was completely restyled fore and aft of the cabin glasshouse and looks better to most eyes than the outgoing model, particularly from the rear. Additions include side sill skirts, chrome surrounds for the side windows and rear number plate recess. There is a new, more ergonomic dash and centre console, new seats and interior colours. The Sonata picks up quad ovoid headlamps, a taller grille and new hood sculpting incorporating headlamp fairings and a subtle central power bulge. There is a squarer-section bumper with low-set louvered air intakes and chrome insert corner strips. The rear styling adopts a full width, top trailing edge line arcing over new, jewel-like faceted lens tail-lights and a chrome outlined rear plate recess. The theme carries down to the bumper, now bereft of fog lights or registration plate and embellished with corner chrome strips. The cabin colour scheme is now charcoal for a classier look.
