Jaguar stops XJ sales

JAGUAR Cars has ordered dealers in North America and South Korea to stop selling certain 2006/2007 XJ sedans after reports of several "massive" leaks from vehicle fuel tanks in the US.

A Jaguar Cars Australia spokesperson told GoAuto that the "quarantine note" issued last week for certain XJ models in other countries, including the US and Canada, did not affect vehicles for sale in Australia.

Responding to an overseas report which said the quarantine note covered XJs "worldwide", the spokesperson said: "It absolutely only pertains to North American and Korean products, so there is no advisement for any other market in the world.

"The investigation that is taking place regarding the reported fuel leaks is only related to vehicles that were manufactured to be sold in North America and Korea – not other marketplaces in the world," she said. "That’s because those particular vehicles had seals fitted as part of the emissions control specifications. So it doesn’t apply to any Australian vehicles." The overseas order follows a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation currently under way after a number of US customers reported that their garage floors were "flooded" with petrol soon after refuelling.
