Jeep goes Extreme

CHRYSLER Jeep Australia has announced Extreme versions of its Wrangler Renedage Sport and Cherokee off-roaders.

Following its Wrangler Renegade Extreme Sport edition released in May, Jeep has added the same package to its Cherokee medium-sized four-wheel drive.

Available with either the 2.8-litre diesel or 3.7-litre petrol engine, and based on the standard Sport model variant, the Cherokee Renegade Extreme Sport features 16-inch "Mechanica" alloy wheels, black roof rails, colour-coded grill and bumpers, spare wheel cover, a rear cargo organiser, cruise control and a leather-clad steering wheel.

Chrysler Jeep Australia claims the extras are worth $2000, with no hike to retail prices. The 3.7 V6 auto starts from $39,990 and the 2.8 CRD auto from $42,590.

Meantime, the limited-release Renegade Extreme Sport version of the fashionable Wrangler 4WD (pictured below) is priced $2000 above the regular version but with extra features worth a claimed $4000.

These include cruise control, a dual-top roof (including hard and soft-top option), autodimming rear-view mirror, overhead compass, leather-wrapped tiller, two-tone cloth seats, a seven-speaker stereo (with subwoofer) and ‘Ecco’ style alloy wheels.

Pricing starts from $31,990 for the 4.0-litre six-cylinder manual. Auto versions cost $2000 more.
