LAMBORGHINI presented a leaner and meaner Gallardo at the Australian International Motor Show today.
The Gallardo Superleggera is a lighter, more powerful version of the already fast Gallardo.
Lamborghini engineers have managed to cut an amazing 100kg from the Gallardo with a variety of measures including using carbon-fibre for several exterior panels, while polycarbonate has also replaced some glass surfaces.
An improved intake and exhaust system frees up an extra 8kW for a total of 390kW. That, combined with the weight reduction, allows the Superleggera to sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the regular car.
Lamborghini Australia is now taking orders for the lightweight supercar, which is priced from $490,000.
For the record, “superleggera” is Italian for “super-light”. Lamborghini also added some style in Sydney with a Versace Murcielago LP640.
The special limited-edition black-and-white model is not for sale in Australia.
