THE orignal version of the Land Rover County (nee Defender) changed the face of motoring as well as some of the more inaccessible areas of the world when it was released in 1948. Although essentially the same package, the vehicle was continuously improved through the years, such as when 1973's Series III saw the implementation of synchro on all gears. The 1980s saw some of the biggest changes, with the introduction of the slightly more refined and accommodating One Ten and County models. Still, no other vehicle has the unbeatable combination of strength, go-anywhere ability and durability.
