TWIN front airbags are standard on both Discovery models. All seats incorporate anti-submarining design. Initial impact forces are absorbed by front and rear bumpers with special collapsible "crush cans". The crush cans are able to absorb significant impacts, thereby protecting the main chassis or body. The Discovery incorporates a central safety-cell design.
